Great secret place to enjoy an outdoor onsen in the middle of the nature. Local people mostly come during evening and weekends. Might be hard to reach without a car ;)
Well maintained free outdoor bath. The one that is most easy to access in compare with the two other secret baths in Beppu. It's so open that it can been seen on the way to へびん湯.

A nice cafe to get some work done.. Good wifi, power plugs and lot of seating area
Nice place for walking and enjoying the city.
Cheap and big parking spot just next to the station.
Excellent restaurant if you are staying at the hotel: トライアル
Need reservation to be made from the hotel front.
Nice and helpful visitor center to learn about the different hikes you can do in the area.
Good simple restaurant to fill your stomach before a hike. I recommend the cheeseburger (somehow super good) or curry rice.
